Hello,
The restaurant world has gone mental.
I am not sure that is the politically correct term, but endless eateries are popping up left, right, and indeed, centre.
From hot dog digs to nouveau cuisine palaces, the "Newly Opened" sign is more worn out that Eric Pickles after a 100 metre dash. (satire)
As both a journalist and a regular food eater, I feel I have some responsibility to visit these culinary caldrons and write about them in a manner which befits the experience I hopefully enjoyed.
Climbing down from my high horse (onto a slightly smaller one), I accept that I am not Jay Rayner, my terminology is not always spot on. I cannot always tell the difference between, say, a beef lasagne and a horse meat lasagne - right Tescos. (more satire).
But as a paying customer, you have a right to smush your opinion all over the interweb's little face.
And having done this reviewing thing for a few years now, I think I'm getting the hang of it. We all have to start somewhere - right Jay-Ray?
For most of us, going out to eat is an all too rare pleasure.
So it's even better when you do pluck up the courage to dangle your fingers in the wallet, or purse - I believe in equal rights, girls should be allowed to pay too - that the meal and experience you purchase lives up to the hype.
In this blog, I will attempt to convey my own experiences of the UK's restaurant, pub and bar scene.
But who am I to be throwing my weight around? Well, firstly, notice that I have used very few exclamation marks in this statement - exclamation marks being the mating call of the internet nutter.
And secondly I have proof that I do write for a living (living being a term I use loosely there).
So just in case you doubt my credentials, and as they say on Blue Peter, here's a few I made earlier...
